Double Glazing vs Triple Glazing

Compare insulating glass build-ups by project goals, frame capacity, weight and performance evidence.

Compare pane count with the project

Double glazing has two panes and one cavity; triple glazing has three panes and two cavities. That basic count does not predict the whole window’s performance without the glass specification, frame and dimensions.

Common questions

Glass questions for the supplier

Does triple glazing always perform better?

It adds another pane and cavity, but the outcome depends on the entire unit and product. Compare project-specific evidence, weight, cost and frame compatibility.

Does more glass layers guarantee better acoustics?

No. Acoustic performance depends on the complete glazing and frame assembly, pane characteristics, asymmetry, seals and installation. Request test evidence for the specified assembly.

What document should accompany the glass selection?

Request the IGU make-up and the performance data or test documents that cover the final glass and frame configuration.
